Top must stay place on Haida Gwaii. The staff are all so helpful and the place is beautiful and relaxing. We swam at the beach and in the river. Dinner at the restaurant was incredible. They really promote relaxing and enjoying the stunning property. There was a mix up with my reservation and I couldn’t believe it; they upgraded me to a gorgeous cabin on the beach! It was the most luxurious stay. The outdoor shower and hottub was awesome after swimming in the ocean and the view of the ocean, grasses and sunrise was paradise.

At check in, staff were detached, uncertain what to do. There was no direction, no room number provided. I was handed an envelope with the room number in it. It was like they didn’t want any interaction with guests. Staff serving dinner, also disinterested in engaging. It was like what do you want, I’ll be back. Sam, the manager(?) was the only person to engage with us. He was helpful, friendly, engaging, unlike other staff we interacted with. A very strange stay. Nice property, great location, clean

It is located on a scenic site between the beautiful Tlell River and the Hecate Strait, with access to great hiking sites. The beds are comfortable and the food is excellent.

Very nice accommodation, awesome comfortable beds. Early in the season so still a little short staffed, but not inconvenient. Beautiful breakfast included with the rate. Dinner menu was excellent.

Beautiful location next to the idyllic river. Receptionist very friendly and helpful. Big problem was the lack of a Hotel Restaurant for dinner for two of the three nights we stayed. Very limited alternative places to eat on Haida Gwaii and nowhere nearby.

Haida house seems designed and managed to embrace the spirit of haidi Gwaii. There are varied opportunities to explore the culture and history of the area and staff and keen to advise on what to explore and /or experience and just share their love of Haida Gwaii in general.

Property was lovely & quiet. Easy access to beach & river walks. Beds were great (firm but not too firm). Most staff were lovely. Need some hooks in bathroom for towels etc & reaching to the back of the toilet for toilet paper was nigh onto impossible for my 70+ mother. A simple holder on the wall would be best.

Sensational restaurant open for breakfast every day and dinner only 5 days a week. Alternative restaurants 40 km away. Very helpfull and pleasant staff. Nice, rustic decor. Rooms are basic, not in line with the rest of property. Beautiful suraroundings and acces to the beach.

A very pleasant stay

We stayed in the lodge at Haida House in the middle of a 10-day trip to Haida Gwaii. It was a very pleasant experience, and generally very comfortable. The food at the restaurant was very good too. However, it did feel at times like we were staying in a high-end hostel rather than the fancy boutique hotel that it seems to position itself as. This was due in part to the accommodation - perfectly comfortable overall but no hanging/closet space and a very small shower/washroom - and in part to the staff, who were very cheerful and friendly but sometimes seemed to lack experience or guidance.

Good restaurant, higher end not budget. Room needed another bedside table, more counter space and / or another suitcase holder. Room was extremely hot despite the thermostat being off and the outside temperature being 12-18 degrees. Nice that the window opened with a large screen. Clean, but small and sparse for the price.

Lovely site and lodge. Dining in was good. Regarding practical issues: No elevator in lodge which would have been helpful for people that have mobility issues or heavy luggage (or both). A toilet paper holder would be handy and prevent twisting around and groping the basket for it. Also a hook on the door to hang a bathrobe or extra towel in the small shower/toilet space. No desk to work at either. Improvised with the small side table.
