Very convenient location, but the hotel is looking a little tired. The lift is very old and clumsy and parts of the hotel could do with a lick of paint but overall it was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay in Carlisle.

We booked last minute due to the poor weather, when we arrived we waited over 10 minutes with no one to be found. The room has not had the benefit of an upgrade and it needs it. We got information about it being a city centre location and there may be some noise, and they are certainly right about it, would have been a benefit to get that info before we booked. There was plenty parking in the area as well as places to eat, as the hotel only did pizza in the evening. The best part was the breakfast in the morning which was good quality and the staff were friendly.

The bedroom was fine, but the shower was difficult to operate. Staff were helpful and the breakfast good. Parking was convenient, but we had not expected to pay for it, perhaps this could have been made clearer when booking.

The room was clean however very worn and very dated. Bathroom door wouldn't open or close without a heavy push as it was catching on the floor. The room smelt very badly of cooking smells therefore had to cover my clothes so as not to smell. Full English breakfast provided with our booking but poor quality. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Ok for a quick stop over but to be honest I wouldn't book again.

From the initial greeting by the hostess to the lovely kitchen personnel at breakfast, the staff were lovely! The hotel presents beautifully and the common spaces have an old-world charm to them which was quite delightful. Otherwise, it feels tired and seems to be in need of some caretaking to restore the details and bring the hotel up to a next level. We’d stay again in a heartbeat, but the ear plugs provided were needed even with an inner-courtyard room, and the windows needed new or actual handles so they could be shut. But its location is perfect especially if Carlisle is simply a stopover, and the hotel would make a great simple basis for a couple days as you explore the area.

The hotel is easy to find and parking is not a problem. The staff are very welcoming and registration was simple and efficient. The room I had was massive, and very comfortable. Warm . The only drawback was the noise from the street outside all night long. However, the hotel does prove earplugs which I could have used. The breakfasts were first class, it's very rare to get a hot breakfast from a buffet style restaurant. But they have mastered it, The rooms themselves were warm, clean and comfortable, but a little tired. With patches of carpet a but bare... But then , the price of the room is definitely budget and still very well worth it. I hope to be back.
