I was pleasantly surprised with the property and location. It is right on the Arcata plaza. It’s a very nice down town area with lots of shops and restaurants all in walking distance of the hotel. The hotel itself is charming and well kept. I felt very fortunate to have found the Hotel Arcata last minute at the start of the Labor Day weekend on my drive up the coast. The parking is free and easy. The breakfast is included and very simple. The room clean but a little noisy from the busy street below.

Nice historic building in the center of town. Very nicely maintained and the staff are quiet but friendly enough. The back of the hotel can get noisy with nightly alley mini parties. Our bed was basically U-shaped and we struggled to not roll into the middle of the bed. That was our only complaint. Parking is excellent and there’s a very good sushi restaurant in the lobby. There’s also a good number of places to eat around the plaza and in the surrounding neighborhoods.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Arcata. If you love historic hotels with lots of character, this is a great place to stay. I loved the vintage feel, especially the grand staircase, halls with pictures and historic facts, and the classic bathtubs in the rooms. The complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus. Just don't expect a full buffet—it's more of a light continental breakfast with fruit, oatmeal, cereal, and waffles, which was enough to get the day started. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Parking can be a little tricky, but the hotel provides a parking pass. Since I was traveling solo, I didn't mind the short walks and actually enjoyed exploring more of the town. I can see how parking might be a bit more challenging for families or anyone traveling alone with young children. Overall, I loved my stay at Hotel Arcata and would definitely stay there again. It has a unique charm that made my visit to Arcata even more memorable.

It is a neat hotel with character. It is clean and well maintained. Overall, I enjoyed my stay, but there are definitely some negatives: The breakfast was pitiful. I was forced to go out for breakfast. There is no dedicated parking and since the hotel is located in the middle of a tourist town, finding street parking was not easy. I had to park several blocks from the hotel. There were often homeless people congregating on the sidewalk in front of the hotel. I would have to walk around them and through their marijuana smoke to get in and out of the hotel.
