We had a lovely stay at the Cotswald Gateway Hotel, the managing couple were very friendly and helpful as was all the staff. We had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. Walk into town was lovely too! Perfect weekend !
This hotel was very interesting, there are doors between the room in the hallway so it makes it very quiet. The room was very small but nice and clean. We did not eat here but it had a large dining room.
The staff was wonderful from Chip carrying our bags up to room to Sam taking care of us in the Pub. It is a Pub last call is at 10 pm so not late, your room is right above. If your an early to bed and early to rise person this might not be the best place for you.
A truly delightful hotel in a convenient location with excellent staff and facilities. Impossible to fault overall - 2 tips… dont park under the trees in front of the building. I dont know what the birds eat, but they eat A LOT of it. Then theres steps….pack light, you’ll be hauling your luggage up a LOT of steps :-) - its a 13th century manor house, lifts werent a “thing ” !
We had a pleasant stay! It was very hot when we arrived. The first room we were given did not have working air conditioning. However, we spoke with Josh at the front desk, and he went above and beyond to make sure we had a room with working air conditioning. Josh is a valuable employee and deserves a raise in how well he goes above and beyond for the customers.
One main point, all the rooms are advertised having working air conditioning. I would recommend to management you address the cooling...
The best part of our stay was the food in the restaurant. It was exceptional. The worst part was the 38 steps up to our top floor room and the quarter mile walk to the car park. The bed was comfortable, the Nespresso coffee maker was nice and the shower was just OK, having only a rain head and no wand. The bar is great for what’s on the bar menu but lame for US cocktails. For instance, the bartender didn’t know what either a manhattan or Rob Roy was.
The Crown Inn was a wonderful stay. The staff we friendly and helpful as were the long term residents. The pub has great food breakfast, lunch, amd dinner.
Our stay at the Lion was excellent. The only complaint was that the door to our room wouldn't lock, but other than that everything was great. I would definitely stay there again. Great location for shopping at Bicester Village and a short drive to Bleinheim Palace.
The friendly front desk staff helped us with our luggage, helped us find our way around Oxford, and helped with our departure day dilemma as well. The room was spacious, clean, and very simple, and included all the amenities. Interestingly, the room and the bathroom both had skylights, which we didn't know could be covered with the touch of a button (instructions when checking in would have been helpful, a tiny quibble.)
