Check in was poor. Reception staff too busy (more interested in each others phone pictures) talking to each other in between helping me and explaining I had to pay £10 overnight to park, in a car park belonging to the hotel I paid £120 a night to stay in. Scan this to check in and sort your deposit, scan that for the car park (sorry it’s not on your email) and scan this for the WiFi to help you pay extra. The room was clean and a decent size. The exec room had a fridge I didn’t use and minimal tea/coffee options - no sweetener or spoons. The bathroom was clean but the shower is too close to the wall so you have to lean in or against the wall to shower. Breakfast was nice but eerily quiet. Another member of staff front facing on their phone overseeing a small breakfast room list. The food itself was good but no atmosphere, no engagement from staff and totally self serve

The rooms were fairly clean, not as well presented as the former and restraint, which were lovely. The food in the restaurant was lovely and the barman/waiter was great at his job. The bedrooms were very hot, I kept a fan going at all times, provided at reception on request. The property is a bit out the way and I had to walk 20 minutes to the nearest pub to be able to do my work one afternoon. Working WiFi is a bit of an essential in the modern world, especially as my phone only had satellite reception! Still trying to understand how it is a ‘resort’ as no other facilities. I would go back for food but not to stay over

Ideal location for what we wanted. Lovely clean hotel, recently renovated. Had just reopened when we visited, so a few teething issues, ran out of a lot of drinks, not enough breakfasts for people that had reserved a breakfast. Hotel was sold out due to Chelmsford part in the park. Overall lovely stay, some nice restaurants and bars,cafes close by.
