I love quirky lodging with a local feel. This place delivered!
The location was excellent and close to tons of places to eat, drink, shop and find coffee and pastries. The entry is a little tricky to find so pay attention to building numbers and read the doorbell labels. Admittedly, the building lobby looks a little sketchy and I was initially worried that it might not be safe- but keep going!!! It is a 3 floor walk up (common in Europe) so be prepared to hump luggage to the property.
Once inside, the place is cozy and comfy. It includes a shared dining area amply stocked around the clock with coffee , tea, cookies and cereals. Each room is also provided with designated shelves in the fridge stocked with cheese, meat, fruit, milk and juice. Eggs were also included-beware, I assumed they were boiled and destroyed one. I think you are meant to scramble them in the microwave ( no stove or means for boiling water). I met lovely fellow travelers while sitting in the lounge or out on the patio.
My room was large and comfy. The shower is a bit small, very large guests probably will find it difficult to use (I am 5’2” and 185 lbs and could fit). Guests cannot use the balcony or open windows so I got my outdoor time on the patio. Bed and pillows were comfy. I did not experience any noise issues. Communication was easy through whatsapp.
I did learn later that Co-housing conversions like this one are a part of the housing crisis in Barcelona.
