Disappointing stay, even for a budget hotel
Dreams Düsseldorf is clearly a budget hotel, and at its normal rates the standard may be reasonable for what you pay. We did not expect luxury or extensive facilities.
Unfortunately, the room was very worn and poorly maintained. The walls had numerous marks, scratches and damaged areas, and both the chairs and bed had visible stains. More importantly, the cleaning was not good enough. We found hair left from previous guests, and the bathroom had poor drainage, leaving a lot of water and moisture after showering. The shower area and seals were also in need of a thorough cleaning and maintenance.
Soundproofing was very poor. You could hear a lot through the doors and walls, and other guests were noisy late at night, making it difficult to sleep. This also appears to be mentioned frequently in other reviews.
During our stay, hotel rates across Düsseldorf were unusually high due to major concerts in the city. At the significantly increased rate, the combination of poor cleaning, worn condition, no 24-hour reception and very limited facilities made this poor value for money.
At the hotel’s normal budget level, the shortcomings may be easier to accept. For this stay, however, the overall standard was disappointing.
