I had a really nice stay at Sveta Sofia. The hotel is an older building, but my room and bathroom were very clean and it was very quiet. The breakfast is a basic offering with coffee, meats, cheeses, bread and cereal - enough to start your day, when you’re on the go with day trip tours. The front desk staff is exceptional, very kind and very helpful. Sofia is a safe and walkable city and the hotel is within minutes of most tourist sites. I really enjoyed my stay.

Hotel and staff were nice. I did laugh when the boy on reception suggested ironing on my bed instead of finding me an ironing board. I wouldn't bother with the breakfast as it was pretty poor. There are lots of places to find food in the area including a good bakery 2 minutes walk away in the metro station.

Staff at front desk and cleaner were lovely and helpful. Arrived early and they assisted with luggage and room while we went and explored area. Property is dated, but does have charm and comfort. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Our room was spacious and bed comfortable. Bathroom clean and functional. Only issue is that walls are thin and can hear movement and outside noise but is a minor problem for us. We found limited dining options for the night.

The housekeeper is not good at all. She did not change the towels for all three nights, even took away one of the small shampoo bottle, she thought I didn't use it. After she "cleaned" the room, she did not lock my door. Front dest staff are good actually.

Avoid if you can.

Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Hotel is clean but very dated. There is absolutely no insulation in the walls. Stayed 2 nights. Second night didn’t sleep at all because of noisy neighbors. As much as I live the location and the staff I will try to find another hotel for next visit.

The check in desk was open in the early hours of the morning and that was easy. Otherwise it was a slightly odd place. For the price I could have stayed at a much more modern place. I also had a strange experience where I heard a dog barking in the room nextdoor. When I reported it at reception, I was told this was the marketing office and it was their marketing dog. I love dogs so could have helped with the marketing dog, I just felt bad for him as he was alone and clearly unhappy. Reception took no action and the marketing dog stayed lonely. Do yourself a favour and spend a little more to go elsewhere.
