The valet parking attendant was helpful. The front desk staff professional and courteous. The hotel has been well maintained! The hotel location was located in downtown Evanston close to restaurants and short walking to the paths of Lake Michigan. We paid more for this stay than the other ones we stayed on this trip but the experience was well worth it!

We stay here every time we are visiting our daughter at Northwestern and the price of the property obviously fluctuates due to important dates - i.e. you pay more on move-in weekend and parent's weekend- the reality is- the location cannot be beat. We can walk to campus, our daughter's housing, and everything you need in Evanston. The accommodations themselves are good enough: clean and consistent. What makes the price slightly more palatable is the staff- they consistently exceed expectations. Whether it's the valet keeping our car handy for in-and-out trips during move-in weekend, to Olayemi at the front desk helping us with unexpected changes of plans or special rooming needs- we are so grateful for the staff! For those reasons, we see ourselves continuing to stay here during the 4 years we anticipate, and definitely recommend this hotel to our fellow student parents. Thank you Hilton (and Olayemi!!) for the stay. :)

The hotel has a great location in downtown Evanston close to Northwestern University. You can walk to restaurants and bars, close to coffee shops, target and Whole Foods. Service is great and valet is $37 a day. Our room was great, remodeled and comfortable. Price is very affordable for the location.

The first room that was assigned to us was terrible; small, looked like a basement although it was on 3rd floor, had only ugly white lighting! Luckily the staff listened to our complaints and changed it immediately to a normal room. The staff was kind and polite. Our room was clean. Breakfast had a rich menu. However, there was no complimentary water bottles (we were told that the hotel ran out of water). They were being sold though.

The staff at the front desk were very nice. What I did not love about my room was that, aside from it being rather small, it was somewhat dusty and not well vacuumed. The bathroom was clean, however. Unfortunately, the bathroom was so small that it was very hard to comfortably use the toilet. And the tub was slippery and small so taking a shower was a bit difficult as well. The Orrington used to be considered one of the better hotels in Evanston, but I was not very impressed with the room.

Good hotel, super helpful staff but parking was a downside. Valet was the only practical option for us and cost over $40/day. There is supposed to be cheaper self-parking across the street for around $8–$12 per day, but it’s not on hotel property and wasn’t realistic for us since I arrived at 3 AM with two kids.

Our room was weirdly shaped and very cramped. Worst of all was the excessive noise coming from the heating system, which sounded like an airplane revving for takeoff. If one turned on the fan, there was no heat. Turn it on for heat, and the fan noise prohibited sleep. Street lights outside the room illuminated the room through the small windows that had inadequate curtains to block the light. Shame on Hilton for squeezing this room into the corner of their hotel and failing to provide an environment conducive to a sound rest for its guests. On the plus side, the staff and kind and friendly.

Good but not great ! Considering it bears the Hilton badge the general condition could have been better. On the floor that I stayed - the paint on literally every room door had several bad scratches / blotches and looked really B grade …. Whilst the room was in decent shape - the first sight of a really bad looking damaged / scratched door was quite sad . Other than that excellent location and a good lobby store for daily stuff . Also I checked out hours ago but have as yet not received the invoice by email as promised ….

The staff made the stay. Extremely helpful and accommodating. The building itself is older but maintained well. Definitely aged though. Bed was a bit harder than we liked. Multiple tv channels did not work but not a deal breaker. The Lobby area was great! We had our own food/drinks and social time with friends and didn’t have to spend hundreds out in the town.
