Great view of the Lake

I got to hotel just after noon and they were already checking in. The front desk had rooms available and it ended up I received a great lake view room. Overlooking Lake Shore Drive! The hotel is a classic looking building but the beds TV and furniture were all great. Comfortable place to stay. Lounge and bar offered good food. Service dog friendly too!

Good experience at competitive rate

Mid September stay. Room on floor 9 with wonderful north LSD and Oak Street Beach view. Okay room. Seemed always chilly regardless of thermostat setting. Bath tub a bit rusty and well worn. Services were great. A drink at the bar is highly recommended.

Great for high end shopping, if that's what you want, but we were disappointed with the lack of souvenir shops. All i wanted was an Illinois fridge magnet but i couldn't get one anywhere, they all said Chicago. We had travelled Route 66 and had collected a magnet from every state, except Illinois. There wasn't even a Route 66 shop, even the locals were baffled when we asked them. Beautifully clean city though, and not as noisy as i thought it would be. The flowers around the city were lovely, not what i expected to see at all. Plenty of places to eat and drink, and a great choice of cuisines. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful Old World Charm

The Drake was a charming hotel with an excellent old world vibe. The staff were all amazing and personable, the building itself is full of the artistic and design touches that the best hotels used to have. The Tea Room is particularly stunning. The rooms were spacious and comfortable with nice views of the city. The hotel’s location is well situated for shopping, walking, restaurants and even a nearby beach. My family and I absolutely loved it, will definitely stay again!

Beautiful historic hotel

The Drake is a wonderful historic hotel in a perfect Chicago location. In addition to its large rooms with lake views they also have 2 on site restaurants. We enjoyed drinks or dinner at the Coq d’Or 3 of the 4 nights of our stay. Our visit was business related and the front desk could not have been more accommodating with their help scanning and sending documents. There is no doubt we will return to the Drake on our next visit.

The Drake. Enough said.

The Drake has lost some of its bling from the old days, but it's still a fabulous stay. We really enjoyed the view over Oak St. Beach, and the proximity to the Lake and Michigan Ave. can't be beat.
