Disappointing experience, nothing like the pictures: My stay at Hotel Isla Palma was a huge disappointment and completely different from what is advertised online. First of all, the island itself looks not like the promotional pictures. The beach is in a completely different condition and falls far short of expectations. As for the hotel, the structure is very old, and many of the advertised facilities are outdated and simply not in use. It is definitely not worth the very expensive price and the long way to get there as it is not at all in line with the description provided. I would not recommend, at least to any European traveller, staying here.

We love being alone on this island, the hotel is clean and the staff is really dedicated and helpful. Please be aware that it's a very quiet area, so perfect to take a break from the busy cities like Barranquilla or Carthagena... I would suggest that the hotel gives more information on their page regarding transportation to the island, because even if it was a dream to be alone on a luxury boat during 2 hours, it's also a bit expensive! We loved the beach, the visit of the zoo (parque ecologico) and the calm of the island.
