Magnuson Grand Hotel

Rooms were dirty. With junk stuck on the walls, paintings and the ceiling. One room the shower had no hot water and the second room the tub didn’t drain at all.Coffee pot had water still in it don’t know how long it was in there. Checked out the next morning. Would have left the first night but was too tired from driving.
Tub was still full of water the next morning.
Gross stuff on the walls
Something gross on the picture.

It was ok for the price. It said it would have breakfast but never seen it. I wouldn't stay there again.

This was a nice property and the front desk staff were AWSOME. I wish the maid had at least come onc to provide fresh towels, but overall very nice.

Roaches, mice droppings, bugs and ran down. There breakfast is very very limited and rationed. The most you will get is a guaranteed cup of coffee and a waffle. Pictures are not matching the discription of the place at all. This is a last minute option or if your in a bind.

Place was gross staff was passably kind wouldn't stay here except it was cheap

The room was not ready until almost two hours after check in and once in the room, the construction upstairs was very loud. I went back to the desk and asked for another room and had to argue with staff before a manager finally moved me to another room. Breakfast consisted of white bread or waffles...not even cereal anymore. I asked for a glass of milk and was told i was too late (at 0800). The coffee was horrible and the juice dispenser was only water for all 4 juice options. I get that this is a budget motel, but the breakfast is a joke.
All were empty - water only

The concrete was needing to be swept. Our room, the flooring was loose, sticky, and had an odor. Paper thin walls inside and outside….heard everything. The lady at the desk, very nice. I just felt like I was not safe staying there with my granddaughter. I got what I paid for.

Cockroaches in the room, bathroom door would keep you locked in . The sensor that’s supposed to read the key card didn’t work , had to go back 3 times and still it didn’t work .
Gabriella, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

I liked the small hotel feel, no breakfast or coffee available, front desk has nice staff, there were a lot of bugs in the room as well as a crack along the seem of the door where someone could look into. Pool was nice, clean, and easily accessible. Affordable so you get what you pay for, $50 refundable deposit pending no damages. It was an average stay overall.

I'll go elsewhere next time

Things were cracked and looked dirty. The beds were comfortable and clean. We ordered food and they didn't bring us utensils and the front desk didn't even have that. It was not as nice as it appeared.

Chloe, 3-night trip

It did not feel safe in the room, bugs, dirty, bubble gum stuck to the bed. I got a refund and left.
Orlando J, 2-night trip

This is obviously where the crackheads live. Not an exaggeration, there were literal crackheads on the property. DO NOT be fooled by the pictures and ratings, like I was. The room very obviously had not been cleaned in days, if not weeks! There was hair and dirt all over the bathroom floor, in the tub, and on the bathroom counter. There was a large, unidentifiable oily stain on the drapes and a bloody, squished fly on the wall. One person in our group sat on the bed, and it was wet. The whole room had a foul, dank smell to it. If the room is that gross, imagine what the kitchen looks like! Just, no.

Hotel Review

For the price of the room I guess it's okay. I would not take my kids to a place like that ever again. It is old, filthy and overall had a not so good experience. I guess Pictures show were AI generated because place does not look like pictures. The pool was the closest thing to looking like the pictures.

I’d pick somewhere else…

Property is dirty and worn down. Nickel and dimed us.

Magnuson Grand Hotel and Conference Center in Tyler Tx. has a fancy name; but it is a dump! My room had no phone, no alarm clock, no working smoke detectors; but it did have bugs. Big ones! That hotel had seen it’s best days 50 years ago; so I checked out of there and stayed at the Hilton next door.
Dan, 2-night trip

DO NOT STAY HERE - Poorly Maintained and DIRTY

The room was dirty and gross and the TV didn’t work. I ended up getting a new room at another hotel because I was embarrassed to have booked such an awful room for my staff. We will not return unless a MAJOR overhaul is done and the hotel is updated and cleaned.
Non working wall TV
Dirt on floor and walls
Water stains on ceiling and musty smell
Dirty and stained walls - looks nothing like pictures advertised
Shea, 1-night trip

There was no ice on the whole complex and breakfast wasn't ready at 7:00 as advised.
Lucile, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Was blindsided with a deposit, didn't say anything about it during booking. Then the room we were given was a mess, had not been cleaned at all and smelled of smoke. We requested a refund and left.
