When looking for places where locals love to eat in Daegu, remember that the city is renowned for its delicious desserts. It's particularly known for its strawberry layer cake and shaved ice, which you can find at Daegu’s Coffee Myungga, renamed La Finca, a coffee shop that’s always busy with visitors from all over the country.

One bakery in particular is renowned in the whole of Daegu. Samsong Bakery and Café’s baked croquettes are notably popular as a gift or a souvenir. Consider this your only warning: you’ll be kicking yourself if you miss out on mungtigi, a raw beef delicacy that’s eaten after being dipped in various sauces.

Dangol Sikdang, or "Favorite Restaurant" in the local tongue, is situated within Daegu’s Chilseong Market and indeed has many regular patrons, as its name suggests. A prominent grill can be seen outside this restaurant, cooking the only 2 things on the menu: dwaejibulgogi (grilled marinated pork slices) and gochujang bulgogi (grilled red chili paste pork slices).

The grilled marinated pork slices are made with a superb sweet and salty blend of seasoning and are smoked on briquettes, while the grilled red chili paste pork slices kick up the flavor profile another notch with spiciness. The prices are more than reasonable, so expect this place to become your "favorite restaurant" after just one visit.

The sauce has a strong peppery taste that does a great job in balancing the spicy and sweet flavors, making the spiciness manageable.
