The Choshi Electric Railway spans just 10 stops over 4 miles between Choshi and Tokawa stations, serving the eastern edge of the peninsula. This retro railway is a picturesque way to get off the beaten track and discover smaller fishing communities. In operation since 1922, the age and feel of the train cars is visible, but the slow, bumpy ride is made up for by an abundance of nostalgic charm and insight into parts of Japan unspoiled by modern development.
Just 2 stops from Choshi at Kannon station, disembark to take in the stunning 5-story pagoda of the Enpukuji Temple or, at Inubo Station, enjoy the views from the Inubosaki lighthouse which is the second tallest brick building in Japan.
