Ali & Nino, located near the waterfront in Miracle Park, is a “moving” sculpture in both senses of the word. It represents the characters in the well-known novel of the same name by Azerbaijani writer Kurban Said. This tragic love story between Ali, a Muslim from Azerbaijan, and Nino, a Christian from Georgia, is reflected in a pair of tall statues representing an enduring love that overcomes all barriers.

The 2 figures in the sculpture move smoothly in a slow dance, coming together and passing through each other. Each full cycle of their movements lasts about 10 minutes. It’s mesmerizing to watch, and truly memorable.
