Retreat was very relaxing. The room we stayed in felt private, there is a nice lounge area outback with a hammock and comfy chairs. The hot tub was nice after a cold day kayaking. Jen was super friendly and helpful offering advice on restaurants in the area. The location is about 10min from downtown Kaikoura but exactly what we wanted in something away from the busy tourist area. Would 100% recommend this to others, great value.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was amazing. The views were fantastic. Everything about the place just shone. Then we were surprised with this amazing breakfast. Totally a 5 Star Place. I would stay there again and again. If I have any criticism at all is the road is gravel to get to the driveway and the driveway signs are not clearly marked. They’re very rustic, considering how the rest of the hotel is it was surprising. However, that should not deter anyone that hotel was fantastic!
