"As everyone has said previously on this site, the staff really make this hotel. They are very helpful and friendly; nothing is too much bother for them. They helped to find us when we got lost in the town on arrival, they arranged a taxi to come and get us off the hill opposite (thankfully there is a car park at the top as there was no way I was making it back on foot!). He told me to sit down and enjoy lunch on him (he owns a restaurant by the same name)The owner charged me full price for my room and charged me for lunch- he never gave me a bill). Then said he would help me pick up my bags from my car outside the center of Matera. Instead he took me to an occupied apartment and told me this is where I’d be staying.
