Nagataki is a compound of several "hundreds of years old" typical houses connected through walkable paths and integrated with nature. I stayed two nights here to see magome and tsumago. The hotel was the best hotel of my trip in Japan offering traditional japanese breakfast and dinner as well as a wonderful onsen. The staff was incredible and kind helping me even though I cannot speak Japanese. I cannot recommend this Hotel enough if you are planning on visiting this part of the Nakasendo Trail.

The hotel is little dated, but the service is amazing. So polite and welcoming. My name was on the welcome board when we got to the hotel! The outdoor onsen is really nice. It was raining and it was great to be out there under the roof while enjoying the hot springs. After 2 nights there literally every ache and pain was gone in my body. Great option for your Nakasendo trail experience. Beautiful town. Be sure to walk around the temples and find the weeping cherry blossom (I think this was the name).

Spacious room with river view, very peaceful.

Large outdoor area of onsen pools with 4 lie-flat onsen beds. This hotel is well located with large parking lot. The room is spacious with suite and view of river and Gero. We found the staff extremely helpful and friendly. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and healthy. Hotel is very nice and more reasonably priced price than other Gero hotels with comparable amenities. A lovely buffet breakfast is included. Staff do not speak any English.
