"We had a very pleasant stay at JR Inn Hakodate and would highly recommend it, especially for travelers using public transport.
The hotel’s biggest advantage is its excellent location. Being directly connected to JR Hakodate Station made it incredibly convenient for arrival, sightseeing, and catching our early 8am flight from Hakodate Airport. The airport bus is easily accessible, making departure stress-free.
Our room was comfortable and adequately sized, although the bathroom was the smallest we encountered during our Hokkaido trip. It was functional but felt a little cramped compared to other hotels we stayed in.
Check-in service was excellent. The staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful with luggage storage before check-in. Do note that room access is strictly from 3pm onwards.
Guests who are comfortable with Japanese onsen culture can also make use of the shared public bath, which is a great way to relax after a day of exploring.
The hotel is surrounded by plenty of dining options, and souvenir shopping couldn’t be easier with a large selection of local products available just downstairs.
Overall, JR Inn Hakodate offers outstanding convenience, friendly service, and a fantastic location. It is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Hakodate, especially those arriving by train or departing on an early flight."
"The staff and cleaning crew were great. The location is superb. However the hotel is really dated, they don’t even have a keycard access to use the elevator . I could hear the drain pipes clearly every time someone used a bathroom. The insulation of the hotel is really poor….The hotel did provided free earplugs at reception, but didn’t help at all….the breakfast was great tho."
"Definitely recommend this hotel! Planning to stay here again when visiting again. The Onsen is surreal at night especially if you get the side of the water & city. So lovely!! It’s also extremely close to the station & market(which you can get free meal tickets for!)😊😊"
"Clean room adequate for triple and space for 3 mid size luggage. Good price and location is good. Onsite paid parking. Walking distance to tram stop and warehouse shopping/restaurants area and some other attractions. Free coffee and other drinks at lounge which opens fr 3pm onwards."
"A convenient location near the train station with good facilities including an onsen. The breakfast is simply amazing with a focus on local seafood that is so fresh and tasty. You can build your own seafood rice bowl for breakfast, there is freshly shaved kombu, tasty ramen etc. Probably one of the tastiest breakfast we have ever had. There is parking but the car park just outside the hotel has limted spaces. Thankfully, the hotel has an arrangement with a nearby car park for the same price so parking shoud not be an issue."
"Great location, incredibly attentive and helpful staff, great hot springs on premises, absolutely the most amazing breakfast buffet,( the best in Hokkaido!) premium amenities make this hotel a surprise favorite of our trip to Hokkaido."
