This was the perfect homebase to explore Santiago de Compostela and the surrounding towns. It was clean, quiet. It had all the conveniences and a good support system in case we didn’t understand how to use them. The parking lot worked out fine as soon as we found a shortcut from the apartment. Was an absolute gem of a hostel. Its only labeled as hostel as it doesn't have hotel services but don't let that deter you. We had the street facing room with balcony which was incredibly beautiful and so charming. Good AC and ceiling fan, great bedding, mini fridge and a stellar bathroom and amazing shower. The lady who checked us in was wonderful as well. Location is great, only a few minutes walk to anything.

Overall excellent quality to price ratio. The hotel is located 3km away from the Cathedral. It is a bit of a walk, but quite interesting in the morning as it is on the Camino route. Thus from 10AM till early afternoon you will be seing the pilgrims arriving. You can also utilize public bus service to get to the center of town. The bus stop is 100 meters from the Hotel door. The Akelarre hotel is very well connected with the airport and Santiago city center through a bus which runs very regularly. We had a great stay at Akelarre Hotel and found its location to be perfect for our travel needs while exploring the area. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Guests with walking disabilities or carrying heavy luggage need to be aware thar Mr. Alfonso was very helpful, kind and provided us very useful information.
