If you travel to Shirakawa-go and want to experience a truly wonderful Japanese experience, this hotel is for you. The rooms are excellent and super clean. We experienced the private baths from the hot springs and was also great!
The dinner was amazing and the town magical.
We loved it!

Next to the station, within waking distance from most of the interesting sites. Good breakfast. The room size is reasonable. Washer/dryer machine in the room is very convenient. Great view from the top level terrace.

Great hotel, really friendly staff, and a good breakfast and public bath (lovely little outdoor pool), a bit of a distance from town but they run a shuttle to and from the station which only takes 15 minutes.

If you want an authentic traditional Japanese experience, book this place, it has all you need. It’s a bit outside the city centre but we walked there and back every day. We had a great experience, just have in mind this is not a regular hotel.

Great hotel close/walkable from the train station. You can pay for a private Onsen which my husband did and relaxed. They have a nice bar and breakfast buffet. Good area again to walk to open market and shrine near by. Would stay again and recommend.

Even though this hotel was not the most traditional in it's appearance, the ryokan experience here was incredibly memorable. Sleeping in a tatami covered room on futons, wearing traditional yukatas and having our kayseki meals served in our room were experiences we will never forget. Expensive because it is based on per person but something you have to do!

We had an amazing stay at this hotel in Takayama! Everything exceeded our expectations, from the excellent service to the cleanliness of the rooms and the incredible amenities. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, and we really appreciated all the thoughtful touches, including toothbrushes, slippers, pajamas, and everything else we needed to feel at home.
The breakfast was excellent, and the overall attention to detail truly made our stay special. A special mention to the two front desk...

Situated in the hills above Takayama with stunning views of snow capped peaks, this place is a hidden gem. Only 10 minutes by bus 30 minutes on foot (I know because I walked it a few times)from Takayama station. The bus conveniently drops you off right across from the Hida Folk Village. After a long day of sightseeing, you can walk down the hill and bathe in your own private spa. Then feast on some of the local fare in the restaurant on the premises. An absolutely magical experience, Yatusankan blew me away with the level of service and the beauty of the property. It was like staying in a museum--my wide and i remarked several times how much it felt like being inside the movie Spirited Away. Staying here was a special highlight of our trip and I hope to come back
