Definitely not luxury.
We stayed at Leopard Plains and experienced several serious failures in the dinner service.
I had clearly stated an allergy to onion, garlic, leeks. Despite this, my husband was served a meal containing seasoning with all three ingredients. Staff later admitted that the chef had used a jarred seasoning without checking the label. As a direct result, my husband became ill, which significantly affected the short time we had left at the lodge.
The previous evening, we informed staff that we wanted a main course and dessert the following night — no starter and no salad. Yet we were served only a main course (which my husband could not eat due to the allergy breach), and no dessert had been prepared at all.
At no point did any staff member apologise for the allergy incident or the failure to provide the meal we requested. My husband had to return to the room unwell and hungry.
When we addressed the above, staff became argumentative and rang the property owner, who, in fairness, removed the charge for my husband’s dinner.
Also, At 37USD per person for a mediocre 3 course meal, I had expected more of an effort.
Mosquitoes are everywhere! The large broken water tank with a huge pool of stagnant water is a breeding ground for them. Management could easily fix this issue if they cleaned this up.
Lots of bird droppings in the restaurant.
All in all, a disappointing stay, which could have been improved upon had staff taken ownership for their faults.
