Location and room we’re superb for the four of us. Really fantastic suite in Amsterdam. Unfortunately the hotel staff and hotel in general are completely and utterly let down by the terrible check in process, the form simply doesn’t work and it’s very frustrating. I would book again, but I would know the issues faced with the check in form. The hotel desperately need to fix this issue. The check out form also didn’t work.

The study was comfortable and location was good we walked to all of the activitieswe had planned. The only issue was that we could not find the settings for the air conditioning and with the sun coming, it was quite hot to sleep. A pleasant surprise, the description was saying there was no elevator, but there ws one, very useful as we were on the 3rd floor.

The room at De Jonker hotel was good and had ample of room. The bed was super comfy and the walk-in shower was a great size. The room was clean, it was great to have a fridge, microwave and dishwasher. It would have been helpful to have had instructions on how to operate them rather than guessing how they worked. The air conditioning was also very efficient. The electronic key system was not for me. I didn’t understand how it worked and it was all in Dutch which I didn’t understand. Luckily my son’s girlfriend is Dutch and helped me understand the entry system. On my second nights’ stay, I was left stranded on the doorstep for 10 minutes as I couldn’t get a signal to bring up the electronic key system. Once I got a signal and entry into the building I then had a problem getting into my room. You have to slide the electronic button across on your phone, which I did, but it got stuck and wouldn’t budge. I then had to reload and try again. It took me a good 5 minutes to get into my room. On the day of check-out I received an e-mail asking me to check out online. The e-mail didn’t load properly on my phone so I sent it to my son. He was able to access it so I was able to check out on his phone. Had it not been for my son and his girlfriend, I would probably not have been able to get into this hotel. Although in principle the room was good, I would not book this hotel again simply because of the issues I experienced with the electronic key system for accessing the building.

Property is lovely and in a nice area. The first room we had included stairs which wouldn't work for my partner, but they happily changed rooms for us. Only real issue was the poor Wi-Fi strength, something that had come up before in these old European hotels.

I would give it a 3.5 if that’s an option. Room itself is great, but no wifi in the room when that’s promised is quite inconveniencing — couldn’t get any work done there. Also, the check-in process is quite slow to get your QR code for the room and resulted in us waiting at the door a few times. Other than those easy fixes, good stay and no other complaints.
