The castle view room was lovely...very spacious, nice bathroom and the bed was a bit small but comfortable enough. Our evening meal in the restaurant was quite pricey but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was equally excellent. We loved hearing about the history of the castle with the complimentary tour...great idea! We visited as a couple to celebrate my partner's birthday and were not disappointed thank you!

A unique experience with nice friendly staff and an excellent restaurant. We had a fabulous evening dinner, preceded by drinks in the impressive drawing room in the heart of the castle. A very relaxing place to spend a couple of nights. With lovely grounds and a good variety of birdlife. (Plus the resident Peacocks!)

Beautiful castle and location. Our room was lovely and we had a good experience dining in the atmospheric castle dining room. The decor of the bar and lounge were also very atmospheric, just as you would expect from a castle and enhanced the experience. The grounds were good to explore. We joined the "history tour" of the castle and this was a very enjoyable and informative 40 minutes, including going up to the tower.

Stayed in the castle view rooms which we discovered on arrival were all dog friendly. This explained the scruffy paintwork, musty smell and stained carpets- but I would expect nothing else when dogs are allowed in the rooms. We would have preferred not to have been in dog friendly rooms but we didn't ask, so it is absolutely not the hotel's fault. Overall, the rooms are quite tired and dated and could use a refurb. However, the bathrooms are a good size, the room had sky TV and two lovely doors which opened out, giving us a nice air flow and a chance to hear the peacocks out on the lawn! The actual castle is fantastic of you are a history buff and the bar area and restaurant were lovely. Great breakfast choice. For the price we paid, this was fine for one night.

Beautiful property and unique experience staying in the castle. The staff were very friendly and welcoming - they looked after us very well. Beware some of the castle rooms require you to go up a spiral staircase which is a bit of a climb with a suitcase. The staff very helpful and will help with luggage tho. Evening meal was adequate only as there was limited options which interested us. However breakfast was amazing cooked to order and great variety to suit all diets. Do go on their history tour of the castle gives an opportunity to go up onto the roof and see the chapel
