This is a very beautiful place to call home while you’re here. It even smells incredible from the fresh woodwork and hinoki bathroom accents. The host was very gracious to us as our plane was over 2 hours late and he stayed way late waiting for us which was so nice and accommodating. Thank you again. I Love the fact the I could completely open the front sliding doors to the river and the rear ones in the bathroom for a breeze through the home. The ONLY thing I would say to mention, and it cannot be helped, is the fact that the stairs are indeed very, very steep from the design 80 years ago. I only say this if you are someone elderly or with bad knees etc. Otherwise, you wanted authentic, you got it here. It was great to walk around the corner to the north and wait in the rain under the giant tree. There are several convenience stores within a few hundred feet also. This is a great location. I also found it wasn’t very loud even though it isn’t too far from a major road. The Kyotoites are pretty quiet people.
