Great apartment, convenient location, great staff. The property is located 5 min walking from the Golden beach and 12 min by car from Chania’s old town. Easy access to the main road that leads you to the famous beaches. The staff was super helpful, giving us a lot of tips regarding beaches, old city parking, restaurants. We could even get umbrellas and chairs for free. Recommended.

We stayed at Ilona apartments for a week and loved our stay. The staff were wonderful and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The apartment was cute and spacious with a separate bedroom. The kitchenette had everything we needed for our stay — even fresh fruits waiting for us when we arrived! Our apartment was on the first floor and had access to a beautiful garden with sun loungers. There’s also a rooftop with more loungers. There’s a little store/cafe right across the street, and a supermarket and several great restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The nearest beach was only a short walk away. Since there are no sun loungers on this section of the beach, it was usually nice and quiet, and the hotel had umbrellas we could borrow for a cozy beach day. The busier beaches with restaurants and sun loungers are also within a 15 minute walk. We had a wonderful stay, and can’t wait to be back!

Our stay was great close to a great beach and walking distance to a nice restaurant. The aircon thermostat didn’t work so aircon went all night and got very cold. Our host was very helpful and lovely. Easy off street parking.

3 weeks refreshing stay at Ilona Apartments

We had a lovely 3 week stay at Ilona Apartments. Staff always helpful. Room was big and AC good. Bed could been softer must admit for 3 weeks stay. Short distance to bus stop and grocery stores. Beaches within walking distance though taking the bus a few stops gave better options. No issues finding parking near the hotel (Ilona also have their own area for parking). We were there late august to mid sept so might be more pressure in high season. Buses usually quite crowded. Renting a car recommended , you get to see so much more of Crete (Anna Cars recommended). All in all, can recommend Ilona Apartments.

EXCELLENT THREE NIGHT STAY

Excellent. Spotlessly clean, quiet, very welcoming, easy parking and though the car was needed to get to the centre, that was OK. Good signage from main road but beware the Google Maps because it does not show roads clearly. Cannot recommend highly enough for the price. Old fashioned but everything worked well.

Stay in Chania

Our stay was excellent. Property is clean, towels and linen regularly changed. The staff is friendly. The management leaves fresh fruit for grab every day. The location is excellent both for visiting the island and for lazy days by the nearby beach. The kitchenette is equipped with basic facilities. A microwave would definitely be welcome. We were warmly greeted everyday by the staff!! They were very helpful on every level! Our room came with a plate of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and oranges with a couple bottles of water in the fridge. Yum!! There was always a plate of cookies and candies at the front desk too. Very conveniently located with 1/2 block to the bus stop, and 1 block to the grocery store one way or the GORGEOUS beaches the other. There is one washing machine available after 4pm (free of charge), so that was appreciated. You needed to stay close by or you would lose your turn to use it and need to wait a loooonnng time. No restaurants nearby so you have to bus to eat a meal. There are some beer huts on the beach - we went to one and ordered a pizza the first night … it was a frozen pizza 😒. We tried, what we thought was a nice restaurant on the beach, had breakfast and then found out it was a resort!!! They charged us $70 Euro for my bowl of yogurt with fruit and my grandson’s plate of eggs and toast! Ooops! Wouldn’t do that again! So definitely be prepared to fix your own meal in the kitchenette or bus downtown for meals - great selection. (We kept all scrape peels and such to feed the chickens on the way to the beach. Loved it! Would definitely recommend it to stay.

The property is in a great location: walking distance to the beach, a supermarket on the corner, and a convenient bus stop. The property itself is unique because there is a lovely roof top garden area for sunning and enjoying the view. The owner goes out of his way to make you feel at home. During this recent visit we feasted on tomatoes, cucumbers, watermelon, oranges, and fresh figs that the owner gave out free to guests. The rooms are spacious and cleaned daily with reliable internet connection.

The definition of Cretan hospitality

From the first day to the last Mr Giwrgos and the manager were friendly, helpful and the ultimate hosts. Super clean rooms, fully resourced and comfortable with private balcony and a beautiful communal roof garden. Complimentary fresh fruits served daily. Plenty of assistance provided with arranging tours and getting around. Great location, a very short walk to several beautiful beaches and a scenic beach stroll to Nea Chora and Chania town centre. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we will definitely be back to stay at Ilona again. Jo & Mike

The room was nice and clean with air conditioning, little kitchen corner and a big balcony. Very short walk to the beach. To the city center a bit more effort (~30min walk), but the view is pretty along the coastline. Check in time was supposed to start at 14, but the room wasn't ready at that time. We left luggage to the reception and the lady sent us to walk to the beach and cafe and come back in 1-2 hours. It was a little bit disappointing but ok, because the cafe in the beach is nice and the room was at least well cleaned. Day before we left, we ask the reception lady if they can book us a taxi for the next morning, to go to the airport. She said yes and said it will come at the time we agreed. Well, for some reason unknown, there was no taxi nowhere outside! Also there was nobody in the reception even though it was supposed to be open. We had to walk to the next bigger street to catch a taxi randomly by luck.
