It was a perfect base from which to explore the Keflavik area. I hiked from the hostel all the way to the lighthouse on some nice four wheeler and horse trails, and got to take a couple dips in the ocean before and after the eclipse. Also visited some of the local grocery stores to stock up on Icelandic candy. The price was also very reasonable. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend this hostel. Staying at a hostel is not something I've done, but this was a lovely experience. The staff are helpful and cheerful and kind. The place is clean and well equipped and filled with homey joy. It was exactly what I needed as a female traveling alone with a long layover in Iceland. I would definitely repeat this experience.
