The staff waited for us to arrive late and were very helpful in giving us directions into Edinburgh. The kitchen was clean and well stocked and open to us. The room itself was where it fell just a little short and the reason for only 4 stars. It could have used a fair amount of refreshing, better linens, and airing out. The price was high given that, although the Fringe was going on so I imagine that raised the price. I would recommend a stay there nonetheless.

We arrived ahead of our check in time and luckily our room was made up and ready for us - our host was so lovely and helpful and we felt welcome straight away! The room was a good size with super comfortable beds and bedding, very clean. Pleasantly surprised by the complimentary Irn Bru and water in the room's mini fridge and plenty of tea bags available too. You're able to help yourself to breakfast items in the kitchen each morning, with plenty of juice and milk available too. Super convenient to walk to Edinburgh city centre - just a straight road for about 40 minutes and plenty of shops.

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay at Pillars. Being from Canada, we missed having air conditioning, but Edinburgh wasn't as hot as back home and the fan in the room worked well to cool the room at night with a cross-breeze from the open windows. The deep tub was a luxury after a long day walking up and down hills. The kitchen was clean and had a nice selection of equipment to use. It was lovely chatting with other guests in the common kitchen area. The neighbourhood was nice to walk around with a convenient Boots and Tesco, and transit was easy to get to. Occasionally we wished it was easier to pop back to the hotel from Old Town, but we the money we saved by staying outside the centre of town meant we had more to spend at all the locally owned pubs and coffee shops. We will stay there again on our next visit!

Building is right on tram only street, so quiet for traffic at night. Closest tram stop is 4 min walk, and then 10-15 min ride into Edinburgh. Shared kitchen has all amenities for cooking. Beds are comfortable, bedding is super comfortable. Shower pressure is solid. Some restaurants within 5 min walk, with Tesco Superstore about 5 min away.

Great location to get into the centre of Edinburgh via a tram or bus, or to get to the cafes and pubs in The Shore area. The staff were friendly and informative. The parking was good and seemed to be ample places. The provision of complimentary drinks and snacks was a bonus. Will stay here again when we next visit Edinburgh.
