The Trailsman was an excellent place to stay. Check in was smooth. The staff are very helpful. The continental breakfast has both hot and cold choices. The woman serving breakfast is very good at her job. The view of the lake from the deck off the room is beautiful.

Exceeded expectations! Clean, updated room, with much appreciated extra chairs. Parking near room was easy. Convientent location with easy access to Baddeck, Cabot Trail, and nearby family. WiFi was above average for the area and adequate for staying connected and completing minor tasks. 2 entrances to room 1 from hallway and 1 from outside. Buffet breakfast was great, especially vegetarian options. Looking forward to the addition of dinner in the future. The view was incredible. The owner checked in with us personally during our stay and his family saw to our needs. They even had spot on recommendations for keeping a teenager engaged on our trip. The knowledgeable, personal touch made this a stand out stay. We will definitely be staying here on our next trip to Cape Breton!

Everything was nice. Beds + pillows were comfy. Despite the highway being right in front and our front door facing it we were surprised how quiet it was all night. We never heard a car go by. The back yard to the water was beautiful. Very nice deck on the front and back decks. Breakfast was standard hotel fare and hot. No microwave in the room but I read they had one in the lobby. Fridge in room which was nice. All around a very nice stay. Would recommend it.

We recently just returned from 2 nights at the Trailsman. We booked it because of the pool and restaurant as we were taking our 12 years old grand daughter around the Cabot Trail. Upon checking in I asked if the pool was heated but it's not even operational as for as the restaurant they haven't had one in over 3 years. The maid came in to clean and they did one of the two beds and didn't even empty the garbage, the shower head was and still is leaking really bad. I won't recommend this place. PS. Lots of road noise need to keep your windows closed.
