The Vajra hotel is located below Swayambunath in a beautiful garden that is incredibly quiet for Kathmandu. It is an amazing heritage property. The staff are so kind, helpful and excellent! This is a special place but not for guests who like a standard, corporate style hotel.

The staff at Hotel Vajra are lovely....helpful, friendly and full of advice. The food is fine, with a good buffet style breakfast and eggs cooked to order. The garden setting gives some tranquillity amid the very busy Kathmandu streets, and the craftsmanship and historic feel to the hotel are highlights. Second time I have visited this hotel -and I would recommend it to others.

The surrounding relatively busy, messy very frustrated to cross streets. Only small local shops, need Google Translate to communicate. The building was very unique. Hotel staffs were basically friendly. My room was noisy, toilet was hard to flush, seat was sliding. I was trying to fix but didn’t work

The surrounding area was quite busy and a bit messy, which made crossing the streets frustrating. There were only small local shops nearby, and I often needed Google Translate to communicate. The hotel building itself was unique, and most of the staffs were generally helpful and friendly. However, my room was noisy, the carpet was dirty and dusty, and the toilet was difficult to flush — the seat was loose and kept sliding. I myself tried to fix it but couldn’t. The bathroom also had an unpleasant smell. There was a small misunderstanding about my bill due to a staff mistake; after it was resolved, they simply said “okay” and let me go, without offering any apology.

i have visited Hotel Vajra since 2013. It is one of the most reliably safe and restful places in Kathmandu and a great location point for wandering and exploration. It is western-friendly but very very local. Amazing rooftop vistas and meditation Pagoda. Highest recommendation!

Space Calm & a Creative Atmosphere in the city!

This hotel is made for creatives and artists who want a quiet place to stay with spacious rooms, while also being in the heart of the city. Its a beautifully built hotel with some amazing wood carving, and a wonderful spacious feel while walking through the interiors especially the restaurant. The gardens and patio are beautiful with many seating areas. You won’t find flat screen tvs here but you will find a good writing desk and excellent wifi. The bathroom was clean but could do with a little interior design sparkle. The food was excellent, and the owner and all the other staff were very helpful and interesting to converse with.

Hotel Vajras is the most restful and quiet hotel in the area. i have visited Hotel Vajra since 2013 and every time i do, i find the staff is super friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and modest, and the grounds are impeccable. Though it is a relatively recent construction, the attention to cultural accuracy in the details and styling feels authentic. There is ample space on ground for impromptu meetings, a well-appointed theater space, an amazing roof-top meditation room, and a library of ancient nepali texts. Extremely reasonable rates!
