A traditional hotel with a very special charm in the heart of Swakopmund. From the very first moment, the Hansa Hotel has an atmosphere that feels like stepping into another era. Of course, in some areas you can see the long history of the hotel and a certain patina, but for us this is also part of its unique character. Anyone expecting a modern design hotel may not find exactly what they are looking for here. However, those who appreciate tradition, tranquillity and a relaxed atmosphere can feel very comfortable at the Hansa. We particularly enjoyed the breakfast. The beautiful, classic breakfast room has a wonderful atmosphere, the selection was good, and we were able to get everything we wanted. The staff throughout our stay were also exceptionally friendly, attentive and helpful. We also appreciated the secure parking in the hotel courtyard. The central location is excellent: many restaurants, shops and the ocean are within easy walking distance, so there is no need to use the car in the evening. We experienced our days at the Hansa as pleasant, peaceful and completely stress-free, and we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. A traditional hotel with history and personality – and for us, a lovely place to stay in Swakopmund.

A delightful stay in Swakopmund...

The Hansa is in a great location, close to my favourite bars and restaurants in Swakopund. Although a bit dated the hotel is well maintained, clean and has a charming atmosphere. The staff are all very professional and courteous; it was also a nice bonus to find a room service menu in the room... the calamari was great btw.

We stayed two nights here. The location is excellent in the middle of the town and easily walkable to restaurants and the sea. It has parking on site. The hotel is great- old and lots of old photos on the corridor walls. The rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was good. We did not eat in the evening there.

I felt like I was in a real hotel. I was treated with great respect by all the staff. When I needed assistance with phone calls or parking or ice or milk or anything, they immediately helped me they even posted my mail. The front desk people are superb. I have not had a hotel experience like this in a long time.

The hotel feels dated and, in my opinion, somewhat overrated. Unfortunately, I don’t feel comfortable recommending it. We asked to have dinner at 8:30 pm, considering that the restaurant closes at 9:30 pm, but we’re rushed because the kitchen closeed before 9.30 p.m.. The same happened at the bar: although it was open until 10:00 pm, about 15 minutes earlier we’re made to feel that we’re no longer welcome. The pasta I ordered was overcooked and not up to standard. We also experienced organizational issues: the parking space assigned to us was occupied by another car, and upon arrival, our room was not yet ready. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is plentiful, but this wasn’t enough to make up for the overall experience. The property didn’t seem particularly suitable for families, and both the atmosphere and the type of clientele didn’t match our expectation. The service and management clearly need improvement. Overall, the experience didn’t meet our expectations.
