Great location top accommodation

Lovely Rooms and nice and clean. The only thing I would say is the carpets really could do being cleaned or replaced. Tea/ coffee facility and a lovely comfortable bed.

We recently stayed here for a couple of nights away and it was absolutely fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly, which really made the experience special. Our room was spacious, clean, and quiet – just what we needed to unwind. Plus, the food was top-notch and the location couldn't have been better if you plan to tour the cots world. We’ll definitely be recommending this place to friends!

It has modern rooms with all the amenities and a ye olde style pub, very friendly staff, amazing food locally sourced, great location with plenty of free parking.

I loved our stay at the Prince of Burford! It is such a quaint boutique hotel! I appreciated the small touches in the room (ex. pillow spray etc) and the food at the restaurant was delicious!

The property lies at the top of the Main Street in Burford ; the property is well maintained and recently renovated. The staff were efficient and friendly; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice stay

All very nice. Very comfy bed which is a priority for us. Good food friendly staff and good in-house music

8/10 Very good

I only stayed at the property for one night. The room was cozy and clean, however a bit small and cold when I arrived. Check-in was fairly easy and the hotel satisfied my request for an earlier check-in. Breakfast was also good.

8/10 Very good

The staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for us. Even when rushed off their feet they were so accommodating. The food was good too - we ate in the restaurant one night and breakfast two days. The bathrooms in the rooms need a bit of TLC but other than that we can't fault the hotel.

4/10 Fair

The hotel is well-situated at the top of the town. Food service is good and the rooms clean. However, my room was very small, it became very hot at night and my sleep interrupted by an intermittent, loud boiler system. I left more tired than I arrived !

A lovely and memorable stay

We have been to The Cotswolds many times, but this is the first time staying at the Prince of Burford. We were made very welcome from the beginning and was even offered a complimentary drink on arrival, which you don’t get in all hotels. Room was lovely, spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was outstanding and the staff very attentive, friendly; all members of staff went above and beyond even though they were short staffed and busy. Special thanks to Jake, who served us dinner one evening, for his friendliness, advice on food choices and exceptional service. Many thanks to the Manager Chris and his wife for also making our stay one to remember. We will have no hesitation in recommending the Prince of Burford to our friends and family, and we will most definitely be back! Paul & Lynne W

8/10 Very good

Beautiful, quaint pub and superb food! The staff were wonderful; very welcoming and going out of their way to be as helpful as possible. On the minus side, double room pretty indifferent (very expensive for what it offered): small and shabby; very loud road noise all night (not their fault!) but THE WORST mattress I've ever tried to sleep on! In fact, with the road noise and the mattress I certainly wouldn't return - sadly, because, as mentioned, both the staff and food were fantastic!

6/10 Good

Great venue, poor staff.

Hotel was great, reception staff very helpful. Dining room, bar. Young staff who don’t know how to communicate, tables left uncleared, when we requested a table for dinner we had to request it be cleared. This was done, we further asked it be wiped, they never did this. Left waiting at table, no one advised us menus were at the bar. Food served, two knives and one fork in the table pot. Just all in all frustrating, no one seems to care about service anymore. If you’re going to employ youngsters with no face to face skills whatsoever, pleased teach them how to operate in the hospitality industry. Spoilt that aspect of our stay.
Elaine, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Don’t stay here

Specially asked when checking in for a quiet room away from the road. Was given a room right next to the main road and was kept up all night by the car noise and also zero heating. Absolutely freezing. There was no WiFi or coffee in the room either. It was very dusty on the room with thick dust over the kettle. A great shame as the previous stay back in February this year was exceptional. The place has clearly gone down hill. Don’t stay here
Lloyd, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

December 2023 stay.

This place has gone downhill a bit since it was the Cotswolds Gateway. 22.02 on a Sunday night and was told as a resident that we could not order a drink at the bar. Also as a Silver member on Hotels.Com we qualified for a free beverage each during our stay. When I enquired at the check on desk was told that the two small bottles of water which were in the room were our free drinks. Not really happy with this answer as all rooms had water placed in them as a matter of course. Cotswolds Gateway was great, stayed about five times. Newly rebranded Prince of Burford however is not as good

It’s a lovely hotel/pub/restaurant.

It’s a lovely hotel/pub/restaurant. The breakfast was spot on. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Ideal location and parking, sometimes staying in Burford parking is limited but they had a car park with sufficient spaces meaning you can park at the hotel and not worry about your car being far away or in time limited spaces on the main road. The room we stayed in was nice and decorated well and had an amazing shower. The only down side was the bed and pillows weren’t very comfy so me and my partner didn’t have a great sleep and woke up tired in the morning. Also we could hear every step from the room next door due to very squeaky floor boards. The cocktails were a little pricey at £9.50 a cocktail but I think they do have a cocktail deal on but it finishes at 7pm which we unfortunately just missed. If the mattress and bed sizes were to change we would definitely stay here again.

6/10 Good

There was no water in the area. We was not informed of this prior to our arrival, all the shop restaurants in the area was closed , was offered a opinion of cancellation money was taken out of my bank for the stay before I arrived , very disappointed with the stay and poor. Response from the staff. If I was offered a refund when I arr I would have taken this , I can stay at home and not eat and drink bottle water , we couldn’t even have a wash not happy with the experience Chris Farren

Family stay

Prince of Burford is a really nice pub. Decor is really nicely done. Restaurant evening meal: had to wait 55 mins for our main meal, wasnt busy at all. No apology for taken so long. No cutelry provided or empty glasses taken away. Staff are nice but I feel would really benefit from some more coaching or some more experienced staff on shift. Simple things such as making sure people have cutelry and not walking pass tables empty handed and not picking up plates/ glasses Room: really nice style and decor. We were facing main road but the noise wasnt too bad with windows shut. Mattress was not comfy and pillows could have been better. Nice touches of biscotti, pillow spray and toiletries provided were really nice. Breakfast: really lovely, staff on breakfast could not have been more helpful and were so lovely. Food was really nice.
