I always try to stay here when I visit Miyajima. Most of the other hotels are quite expensive so this one is a real gem! It has a great location and now they have a lobby bar with tasty drinks, and you can also order grilled oysters!

Stayed here for one night to experience Miyajima without the tourists. Was a wonderful stay and really enhanced our trip. Used the on site onsen which was a real treat after many days of walking long distances. Staff were friendly and polite and allowed us to store our bags the following day so we could go up Mt Misen. Loved the traditional Japanese rooms. Wasnt a fancy hotel but that's not what we wanted. A great low cost, high quality stay. Highly recommended.

You cannot beat the location, as it is right on the main drag and across from the water, and close to the ferry. It’s also close to shops and restaurants. The staff is very helpful, as I had misplaced an item and they were able to hold it for me. The onsen in the basement is great. The tatami mats in the room are fine, and the futons are also comfortable. The bathroom is a bit outdated, but everything works.

Beautiful ryokan style rooms with lovely warm duvets on comfy futons. Within walking distance of the ferries. Our hosts were very gracious, with lots of suggestions for dining. Next trip I will definitely stay a couple of days at Surakaya.

LOVE Sakuraya!!

We loved this little hotel on Miyajima Island! It was so cozy and had everything we needed. Even the tiny shower had amazing water pressure and was so cozy and nice. Definitely stay here if you're a traveler on a budget visiting Miyajima Island!
