Lovely by the sea

The location of the hotel was fantastic and central – perched on a cliff with a breathtaking view. Taxis were right across the road and shops just around the corner. The room was perfectly fine and almost clean. I need a good pillow - this pillow was a bit too soft, and the room faced the road, which made it quite noisy. Delicious pancake breakfast in the restaurant with a lovely sea view – a very nice bonus. Overall, the hotel was generally worn, but had a certain charm to it.

Pleasant room in convenient location

After travelling in a very elderly lift and negotiating a labyrinth of out-dated and somewhat scruffy corridors, our light bright and spacious room was something of a surprise. Although it was essentially a white box with a view of the bins, some attractive furniture and soft furnishings in sea-side colours gave it a lot of charm. The bathroom was also spacious, light and bright. It was all spotlessly clean and well-equipped with all the basics including good-quality tea, coffee and biscuits. With its convenient location near to the station and lots of restaurants and its cliff-top position, the Great Western is a great and good value base in Newquay

This hotel could definitely do with a make over as it looks tired. My one complaint was that breakfast was not included in the price so do not believe what you read on the internet that the price includes breakfast.

While the staff are lovely, This place is tired and awful and in desperate need of a complete renovation. The photographer deserves a promotion for making the photos look as they did, but clearly it is photoshopped. The place is dark and dirty and smells like a mouldy dive bar, the beds are lumpy, the carpets stained and the bathrooms are gross. Its a shame because the location and the views are great!
