Overall, I had a very good experience at Matices Hotel de Barricas. The concept is original and genuinely interesting, and the staff were attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout my stay. The restaurant is a good option for anyone who enjoys traditional Mexican food, but what really stands out is the setting: having a restaurant located about five meters underground is quite an experience. Their tequila selection is also impressive, with an extraordinary variety to choose from. Another big plus is that this hotel is truly pet friendly. Dogs are welcome not only in the room, but throughout the hotel and its different areas. Traveling with Cannoli, that made a real difference and made the stay much more enjoyable. A unique concept, good service, an impressive tequila experience, and a place that actually understands what “pet friendly” means.

Spent our anniversary here. The property is awesome and really fun for an adult getaway. I wouldn't bring my kids here, though. Both restaurants on site served very good food. The breakfast restaurant is huge and only had 1 cook, so it was a very looong wait. That's my only complaint. We live close by and look forward to taking guests here to eat and shop at the store in years to come (the tequila really is very good here).
