It’s an isolated area near some amazing places, but I’m afraid that the train Maya is going to bring a lot of tourism and change the entire nature of the place, and that the local people will be the last to benefit from this. I think we got there just as the wave was starting to break.

Nice hotel for the star level and price. Incredibly clean (immaculate) in rooms and around hotel, fluffy towels and great sheets. Bed a little hard but that’s Mexico. Great wifi. Hot water. Staff friendly. Neighborhood is a block back from Main Street so no street noise but some roosters and dogs (again normal for Mexico). Restaurant in hotel had lots of options and was good. We liked it and would stay again. Very safe area. A great base for Calakmul trip.

There was a great deal of wood in the rooms. Adjacent to the hotel was a nice restaurant. The room was well refreshed and included AC. The office was great to help with taxis. We arrived at our room, the beds were not made, we didn't have towels, the staff was notified and they were quick to fix this. In one of the rooms, the TV didn't work. The location is ok to some archeological sites, it is an average stay. We had breakfast the next morning and the options were nice.
