Really enjoyed my time at the occidental Torremolinos playa , Staff was very helpful, rooms were very clean and spacious, family friendly with lots of activities and entertainment for kids , convenient location across from the beach and restaurants, the food served for breakfast and Dinner was excellent, would definitely stay at the occidental in the future.

The lady we first met in the reception was a bit rude without any reason. Then we got a room which didnt look like the one in the pictures when we booked it. There were stains on the chair & sofa. The overall condition of the room was not good. So we went back & met another young woman. She understood the problem & gave us a new room in the same building as the reception. It was clean and looked like the one in the pictures - so thanx to her. The hotel is a resort for families with kids. The breakfast is just ok. The overall vibe wasnt our type.

☀️ Another wonderful stay at the Occidental Torremolinos ☀️ A firm favourite for a short break and one we’ll definitely be returning to. Modern, bright rooms, friendly staff, excellent food, branded drinks and a fantastic beachfront location. Perfectly placed for a day exploring Malaga or a lovely coastal walk through Torremolinos and on to Benalmádena. Sunshine, sea views and complete relaxation… what’s not to love?

The rooms themselves look to have been renovated relatively recently however our room (Block 14) had a pervasive stench of toilet drains in the bathroom, black mould was starting to show on the ceiling, and when we went to shower mid afternoon there was no hot water. Therefore we felt like a very old block had been given a lick of paint and new decor but it was still badly maintained underneath. Annoyingly there was no coffee / tea tray in the room not was there an iron. The stay would’ve been fine if it was marketed as 3 star but it’s a highly priced 4*. The reception, food, pool, restaurant were all fab but the basic, rudimentary feel to the room let it down. And supposedly we had been given an “upgrade”.

There are positives and negatives, but overall a nice place to stay on the beach. Positives - - nice big resort right on the beach with easy access - pool is big and a lot of sun beds to chill in the sun - room was ok, missing a few things though - activities across the resort are also good, putt putt, table tennis, gym etc is also available - buffet breakfast was good, very busy as this place can accommodate a lot of people - staff were nice and overall vibe of the resort is what you’d expect from a beachside resort, good for couples or a family Negatives - - location of this place is quite far from Malaga main city. It’s about 20 min in an uber from the centre of town (where you will definitely want to go as it’s beautiful) to the resort. You can also get the train which is about a 10 min walk from the resort to the station, which goes every half hour or so if the ticket machine is actually working… - our room had two single beds pushed together instead of a double bed - room missing a few essential room things in my opinion - no kettle in room, no tea/coffee, no tissues, no water other than the tap. I asked about where a basic coffee was available (even instant coffee) and I was told to buy it at the bar or buy from the supermarket down the road… Overall was good and we loved Malaga, but a few little things didn’t tick the box for us.

Quite poorly equipped with kids activities, room was well worn out, toilet tank was running non stop, wardrobe sliding door was broken or twisted, could barely move to open and close and was making lots of sound. Sound isolation in the rooms was very bad. One evening we came back 11:30 pm to sleep and while we were getting ready neighbors knocked to the wall because we disturbed them... Unbelievable.. And other days we were hearing neighbours alarms ringing from early morning, couldn't sleep. But the most surprising thing was that pool /beach towels hotel was issuing were not changed daily only once a week unless you agree to pay daily for them to be changed. So unhygienic. Rooms were cleaned daily but the floor was never cleaned properly. Constantly felt sand and was unpleasant to walk bear foot. Shower water pressure was very low, took ages to rinse my long hair and also it was taking 10 to 15 min to run water until hot water starts.

Staff couldn’t be more helpful including the entertainment team. Right on the beach but away from the hustle and bustle, if you’re a keen walker you can walk for miles along the beach Room was spotless cleaners do a fantastic job As inclusive food was varied something for everyone always hot We came at the start of season as half term hot queues for the restaurant were long, will definitely take this into consideration next time as we will be back
