I recently stayed at the Villa Palazzo Hotel in Lagos, and it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. When I arrived, the hotel staff explained that Expedia often reduces hotel rates to make a sale, and they attempted to give me a different room than the one that I paid for. They insisted that the room was an additional 25,000 naira, and to avoid further hassle, I agreed to split the difference and paid 12,000 naira extra.
After that, we had to wait about 45 minutes for the room to be cleaned. When we finally got into the room, we found a stain on the pillowcase that looked like blood. Later on, I got locked in the bathroom due to a faulty lock, and the staff had to pry the door open to get me out, again without any apology.
To make matters worse, when we returned in the evening, there was no hot water, and the staff simply gave us a bucket and a kettle in the hotel's most expensive room. I reached out to Expedia for help, but they never followed up properly.
In the end, we stayed simply because we had driven seven hours to get there and were too exhausted to find another place. Overall, I can’t recommend staying at this hotel based on my experience."
