I was surprised when I arrived that this was more of a large house converted into hotel room. There isn't a front desk or amenities. There isn't a lift so be prepared to schlep your luggage up and down stairs. Gent is a historic city, so I do not expect a lot of modernization; however, I was frustrated at the lack of plugs in the room. I was especially unhappy that I could not blowdry my hair in the bathroom and had to plug in at the desk which was awkward. I was also confused by the entire shower set up - I really didn't know how to point the handheld so that it would shower me and not the whole bathroom - it kept slipping so I had to hold it over my head while rinsing hair. My window overlooked a shared balcony that was filled with adorable plants but I kept forgetting that I had to be decent in the room with curtains open in case someone was using the balcony. I'm positive all the rooms are unique and mine may have just not been the ideal for my style. The location of the hotel is perfect, I walked everywhere. You will need a bus or taxi to and from the train station though - not because it's far but because it's hard to roll luggage on the sidewalks and hills and the university students on their bicycles are a force! I walked to the hotel and said nope not doing that again! Be conscientious of the check in window of 4-9 and do reach out to the host in advance if you need something earlier or later. Overall, this is a quirky hotel in a good location.
