Everything was excellent but it wasn't your typical check in or front desk setup.

8/10 Very good

Good hotel with lovely, helpful & friendly staff. Got chatting to various people in the bar area, which was relaxed with a nice atmosphere. Bar staff were very helpful & chatted with ease. Room was spacious and clean as was the bathroom, but the shower was very weak indeed, but the water was warm enough. The room/bathroom/decor are what you would expect of such a hotel in the area. Make-over would be welcome, but in thee difficult times, fully understand if it isn't priority. Would recommend.

Very nice historic hotel. Close to the train station and town center so we were able to walk around and did not need a car. There was a good-sized car park.

Very good hotel in a good central location in Elgin. Check-In and Check Out were quick and straightforward and the room I had was comfortable with a large shower. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nice bar with a good menu. Breakfast was very good as well.

Gem of a place

Absolutely the best value in Elgin.. Delicious breakfast, spac’ous rooms, fast Internet, courteous staff, central location and a parking spot for your car. What else can you look for? Oh I forgot| the selection at the bar is overwhelming!

8/10 Very good

Good size room, helpful staff. Comfortable accommodations in the very nice town of Elgin. We selected Sunninghill for it’s proximity to speyside distilleries, but Elgin is worthy of of visit on its own with its enchanting ruined 13th century cathedral, a castle, the home of the luxury cashmere company Johnston’s of Elgin, and an easy drive to Inverness or the coast. Beautiful scenery in every direction. There are plenty of similar hotels and B and Bs throughout the area. Sunninghill is a solid choice, not a luxury experience but comfortable and friendly. The restaurant has decent fare and a broad menu. Breakfast is also available. Rooms could benefit from a bit more updating and a bit nicer amenities, for example a coffee maker instead of just instant coffee with a tea kettle. A few additional details would elevate the experience.

6/10 Good

Friendly staff and comfy bed. But stains on the two chairs in the room, couldn’t open the window very far on a hot (for Scotland) day, and rust multiple places in the bathroom. Bathroom as a whole felt like it needed an update.

Really friendly staff that know what they're doing. Bar has an excellent selection of whisky available . Dining is nice and relaxed with very good food. The rooms are clean and have everything you need but are not 5 star but then neither is the price. Breakfast is freshly made for you and of good quality and well cooked. Would definitely return to stay again.
