This is a really great hotel and I thought excellent value particularly considering it was the weekend of the marathon. The position is great and it is beautifully styled in the reception and bar areas. On top of that, all the staff were delightful to deal with. They even were able to organise early checkin despite it being such a busy time as my daughter had some important work meetings. I am a convert to the Hotel One brand from this experience.

The location of this hotel is very good if you are visiting Berlin as a tourist or for a business stay in the central city. The hotel lobby is also a decent place for an informal meeting and/or drinks. The room was small but efficient. We did not opt for breakfast, as there are three coffee shops across the street that offer fare far less expensive. One plus... the windows in the room open to let in fresh air. The air conditioning in the room struggled a bit during higher-than-normal temperatures.

The Motel One was a good spot to stay in Berlin. The room was good for one person or two close people. It was near a metro stop which was great for getting around the city. It wasn't really near a lot of other things though so depending on what you are there for, plan on adventuring out.

I recently stayed at Motel One Spittlemarkt over New Years. My room was very clean and comfortable. I was a 2 minute walk from U-Bahn Line 2 which made getting around the city easy. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of all the major sites in central Berlin. As a solo, mature female traveler, I felt very safe and comfortable in this part of Berlin. I liked the area and if I were to visit Berlin again, I would stay in this area. I liked that the U Bahn and bus stops are on the doorstep. It was easy to travel all over the city. The area felt very safe. Re the room - The shower was really decent, easy to set and always nice and hot. Though small, the room was perfectly adequate and appeared clean. I really disliked that there were no tea and coffee making facilities. For me that is the deal breaker. I loathe carpet in hotel rooms and this one was a fairly elderly specimen. Hardwood flooring would be more hygienic. I appreciate this was a German hotel but the lack of international tv channels was surprising. The only English one was Sky 'news', and I could not locate any French or Dutch channels either. Fortunately, the Wifi is good. Dont be fooled by the 'city view'. My room looked directly in to about 100 living rooms in a tower block and conversely they looked into the hotel rooms which have no privacy unless you want to shut the curtains during daylight. Apart from the barman, who was chatty and friendly, the staff were not unpleasant but not very welcoming either. I had breakfast one morning. It was fine but over priced. Fortunately, there is a very good bakery and cafe across the road where you can have a nice breakfast for a fraction of the price. All in all, it was a clean, safe place for a reasonable price but would I return? Probably not.

We arrived late at night and the staff that checked us in was welcoming and she provided us with all the information we needed. We went down at the lobby bar to grab a late night snack and a drink. The bartender informed us that we could just relax and take as much time as we needed. We didn’t feel rushed at all.
