Excellent location to stay on a visit to Calakmul Ruins. The rooms and facilities are well maintained, the staff was courteous and helpful. The one draw back was the food, not a wide selection of choices for any of the meals and the taste did correspod with the high cost. Overall, I would definitely stay at the Mundo Maya again.

I thought I was dreaming! This place is magical! The pool has a view of the jungle tree tops and at night the stars! The food and service were above and beyond! The grounds are beautiful and very close to the archeological site and allowed us to enjoy the nature without having to drive back to town.

Nice modern property close to the ruins of Caluakmul. Unfortunately only about a quarter of the rooms face the jungle, the rest face either the parking lot or solar array. Even with a parking lot view we saw multiple birds, including parrots and two species of toucans.

This is a beautiful new property that is a welcome rest after exploring the Calakmul area. Gorgeous pools, attentive staff, and lovely architecture and design throughout. We very much enjoyed our stay, and came back a second time. Just be prepared for the long drive.

Our stay at Munck Maya Calakmul was our second time at a Mundo Maya hotel during this trip — and once again, it impressed. The hotel is beautifully designed with lots of thoughtful details and plenty of comfortable spots to relax. The pool at the top was nice, though a bit too warm, with limited shade and no open bar, which was a small disappointment. The room was clean, spacious, quiet, and pleasantly cool. The price-quality ratio is excellent. The food, however, really doesn’t match the hotel’s style — it’s mediocre and overpriced, and the service was below the standard you’d expect for such a design-focused hotel. If the dining experience matched the quality of the hotel and staff were more attentive, this place would be perfect. Overall, a stylish and comfortable stay, but the restaurant experience brings it down.

Staying at Hotel Tren Maya Calakmul, was a brilliant experience. We arrived at the Tren Maya Station Calakmul and the transportation from the hotel was already waiting for us, they were expecting us without specific transportation arrangements. They’ll know you will arrive if you made a reservation. The trip from the station to the hotel is about an hour on a well paved maintained road. The driver made a few stops to let us see a few crossing animals in the jungle. Fabulous. At the check-in, there was no extra cost for early use of the beautiful deluxe bedroom. Immediately, we arranged a trip to the Zona arqueológica Calakmul for the next day. They also offered transportation with a cost (transportation from and to the train station also has a cost) a bit under 1000 pesos round trip. The facilities at the hotel are new and it is eco friendly . They run energy with solar panels and there is AC in the bedrooms. Remember, the hotel is in the middle of the jungle and it is humid. The restaurant has delicious food all day. The pool area is exceptional and the different common areas contains a pool table and other game tables. There is a gym with new equipment. The views and the vibe being outdoors is present at all times. The personnel is very helpful, kind and attentive. We stayed for 2 nights. I want to go back. Definitely recommended. Yes, the bedrooms are very private and comfortable.

We first visited Calakmul 20 years ago and were worried to see such a large development close to the site. But it surprised us with its sustainability, design, and the helpfulness of its staff. It enhances Calakmul instead of detracting from it, and it allows guests to visit who don’t want to bring a vehicle (we took the train). Highly recommended.

It's a beautiful hotel with a great staff. The service in the restaurant was a little slow, but the food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the indigenous items on the menu. Lastly, they need to stock a better selection of wines in the restaurant. I hope to return one day soon.
