Setting Expectations

The booking process was simple. However, he called back two times to change our reservation date and never received confirmation email. That left us, unsure if it was processed correctly, we had to call back and still have not received confirmation

Our stay at Hotel Zindel was great! The bed was SUPER comfy. I would say there needs to be better communication between the hotel itself and the concierge services about what amenities the hotel can actually provide. The concierge service was incredible, and there were so many great recommendations.Thoroughly enjoyed, Little Italy, the neighborhood the hotel borders!

Very nice

Easy check in. Good communication. Great location. Close to lots of restaurants and bars, and can drive to most attractions within 10 minutes. Nice hotel. Older building that has been completely renovated. Highly recommend it.

Hotel Zindel does the trick! GREAT location, with super comfortable beds and convenient check-in/out, this is a great option for just passing through or staying a few days.
Erin, 3-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

The communication provided prior to check-in made my arrival and check in super easy. I was greeted upon arrival and offered a glass of wine. The room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. Located right in the heart of little Italy being spoilt for choice when it comes to good food, it was also super easy to get around without a car.

Cute hotel not far away from things to do. Modern furniture, great a/c, and a very comfortable bed. The kitchen was a plus. We had fun playing games in the game room downstairs before we went out for the evening. It was stocked with coffee and water. My only complaint was that the towels were not great (they were a little rough) and extra counter space in the bathroom would have been nice. The staff was great and response time to texts were immediate. Very friendly and helpful. It was perfect for our stay and we would stay there again.

2/10 Poor

Upon arrival we were given our room number and code, the room was a disaster. Bed was messed up and trash everywhere!I had to call about 5 times to get a person on the phone. Was then given another room… the room had a family already in the room when I opened the door. Terrible hotel.

Amazing get away!

This hotel was an AMAZING experience. I was worried that with the log in instructions and codes to get in doors that it would be shady bug it was beautiful and perfect for our little get away!

Hotel Zindel was great! Our first stay in this style of hotel where there isn’t a large onsite staff presence. Place was great. Very clean and such a perfect walkable area.

Jim’s review

We liked the hotel. You need to make the daily amenity fee optional. We used none of them. I resent paying that fee. It is not the best neighborhood and therefore we were nervous about leaving our car parked by the freeway and the ugly lot across the street from the hotel. But it turned out ok. Better, I suppose, than paying the highway robbery fee of $60-65 per night that hotels downtown charge. We enjoyed Little Italy and the proximity to Balboa Park. I wish the outdoor patio when you first come in from the street was a little cleaner and had a few amenities. I still rate the hotel 5, but it’s pricey. Remove or make optional the amenity fee. Jim

Close to everything. Clean. Response from staff could be a little slow

Quiet. Clean. The parking lot is hard to find.
Chorong, 1-night trip

For the price, it was worth the stay. Though, the number of bunks in one room felt a bit tight.
Andrew, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

This hotel was okay. It's clean and located near lots of attractions. We chose it because it had a relatively affordable suite w/a small 'extra' room for our teen. As for the hang-ups, we'll start w/parking. It was an absolute nightmare every night. We understand it's not the hotel's fault per se, and we're not so privileged as to expect front door availability in a downtown area, but holy crap, every night was stressful, driving around for 15-30 minutes just hoping to see a car somewhere within a five block radius pull out. Other items: we never received turndown service (7 nights), the convenience of Air B/B-style check-in/out and lack of front desk people left a bit to be desired, they do provide coffee and snacks in the morning though. Most notable: $200+ in hidden fees charged after paying in advance (and no, we didn't pay per view, there's no bar in the rooms, etc.).
