Very good hotel, room are clean and modern, coffee free in the lobby all day long and fruit. Beer restaurants and Saguenay river. 2 odd thing, first, you need to use stairs to go to the lobby from outside with your luggages, there is a way for wheelchairs at the front somewhere but it's a detour. Second odd thing, you need to pay for coffee during breakfast but the hotel give you coffee free 24h a day, not clear why I paid for it in my breakfast... Overall it's a great place.

I know this is my second review of Hôtel Chicoutimi, but I just can’t stop telling people how incredible this place is. At this rate, it’s going to become so popular that I’ll never be able to get a room! Every single visit, the staff makes me feel like royalty. Their warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail are truly exceptional. This time, I had a room overlooking the river, and the view was absolutely stunning. Waking up to that scenery made my stay even more memorable. I also loved having a Nespresso machine in the room—it was the perfect touch. Everything about this hotel feels welcoming, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. Without a doubt, Hôtel Chicoutimi is my favorite hotel in all of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. Yes, I said it! I’ve stayed in several hotels across the region, and this one continues to exceed my expectations every single time. I can’t wait for my next visit!

This hotel is in a central location within easy walk of some restaurants. The hotel itself was fine; clean and very modern although not a lot of personality. The staff were very nice and helpful. The app they want you to install before you arrive didn't work and check in wasn't made easier by it. There isn't much to see in that area.

When we arrived, the gentleman who checked us in was very cold and unwelcoming. He simply stood behind an iPad to process our check-in with no real interaction or effort to make us feel welcome. When we were given our room information, the mobile app required to open the door would not work. I went back down to explain the issue, and he dismissed it by saying I was holding my phone incorrectly. After trying again with no success, my mother had to call reception. Someone finally arrived with manual key cards, this whole thing took about 20 minutes, standing outside our room with our luggage. After a seven-hour drive, this was extremely frustrating and not the experience we expected. The room itself was very clean and comfortable. Small details like handles on the cabinets and drawers would have been appreciated, but overall the room was fine. The following evening, when we returned after being out all day, a different receptionist was working. She was much more welcoming and pleasant. Unfortunately, our key cards once again did not work. We tried calling reception with no answer. I had to go downstairs to look for assistance, but no one was there. Shortly after, my mother called to say the receptionist had just gone upstairs to deliver towels we had requested. Between the lack of available staff and the unreliable door-entry system, the experience became far too inconvenient. For these reasons, we would not choose to stay there again.
