Great value for money

If you need a bed, a clean room and your own bathroom, this is the hotel for you. Don't expect anything fancy to entertain you. Hotels are for sleeping. Did I tell you it is really nice and quiet with well isolated rooms and airco? The personel service is also friendly and always available. Floors are cleaned good and a late checkout is cheap! Recommended to have a car if you book this hotel!

Arrived to check in and we were given the keys to a room that was already being used. The staff was really good and acted promply. The second room had a strange smell coming from the toilet so we closed the door and was not too bad. The room was in a very poor state. The walls had loads of stains that was unclear what type of stain it was. The toilet seat was cracked. The vent above the shower was missing, so it was just a hole in the ceiling. Again loads of stains in the WC tiles.

It’s not terrible. If you’re looking for budget this is it. But know, you get what you pay for. Rooms were not the cleanest. There was no toilet paper roll holder so our options were the floor or a shelf up and behind the toilet. After 1 night they came in and cleaned all our towels and left 2 shower towels. This didn’t make sense because we had a hand towel up on the sink so there was no need to take it. Location.. it’s NOT near the airport. A solid 30 minute drive. 50 euro taxi or 30 euro uber. Ouch. Nothing is close even by bike. The whole place just looks like an unfinished project. So again, not terrible and you get what you pay for.

This hotel is basic, the rooms have very little storage, 4 hangers and 2 tiny bedside drawers. The bathroom again no storage, warning the bathroom floods when using the shower, so becareful not to put things on the floor. Pillows are very soft and small, as if they have used cushion inserts instead of pillows. Hotel location is poor, it is 20 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop which runs once an hour, the next nearest one is around 30-40 minutes away. The best option is an Uber/Bolt for around €10. There is no food available at the hotel or in near walking distance, once there your options are limited to uber. Overall its ok for 1 night but if you are staying more nights id possibly pass.

HOTELUX is surrounded by fields. It is very quiet at night. By transit it is about 50 min from Schiphol airport. It's much less if you take a taxi to the Hoofddorp Sprinter Train Station. Transit is quite frequent, but at least a 2.5km walk to the nearest bus or train. You can either walk to the bus or to the train that leaves Hoofddorp, but the train is even further. The walk to the bus is quite pleasant along some canals if you pick the right route. For people travelling by car there is plenty of parking. The restaurant is scheduled to be opened in October 2024. Bring food with you until it is open. There was an espresso machine near reception that charged 50 cents for a decent cup of espresso (or tea). Room had unlimited Netflix for entertainment and other options. It was clean and comfortable. Hotels around Amsterdam tend to be very expensive. This one was cheaper. Just be aware of the transportation challenge and then it's a good deal.

Impressively poor service and quality

Seemed like a reasonable price, but knowing what we do now we see why. There was no functioning internet. The first room we were given smelled like smoke (YEARS of smoke) and while the receptionist switched us to a different room, she did so very passive aggressively (denying that anyone had smoked) and chose a room that was cheaper than the one we had paid for (with no discount and separated beds). There was no access to the airport or city (making "airport hotel" a lie): be aware that the only way to get there and back is by car. Oh, and the room looked like a prison cell. Horrible scam.
