The St. George Hitel is a period correct hotel with modern plumbing. The rooms are very small and there is no accommodation for electronics. Thus may not be an issue as long as you are aware. Wifi worked well. The mattress was conformable enough. The included breakfast was very good. The staff were very nice and helpful.

A dream come true !! We loved staying at the St.George Hotel! So much charm here at this special place. Thankful for all the thought and care Ria pours into this establishment! The hotel is an historic building dating back to 1868, situated in the centre of the historic goldmine town of Barkerville, BC. Funky may describe it best and is certainly not for everyone. Shared bathroom for 4 of the units and ensuites for the remains 3 rooms. There is no elevator and the stairs are a bit steep for some. The continental breakfast is outstanding. You’re there for the town the history and a great getaway. A sleep so quiet that nothing but you breathing can be heard. Loved all of it. We found three days not enough to discover everything. I can’t forget the host, Ria, charming and attentive.

This is a beautifully decorated hotel in the style of the era. Comfortable room and very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good also. This is a great place to stay at least 2 nights to get a good feel for the Baskerville of old.

Our stay at the St.George was absolutely amazing. The continental breakfast in the morning was above and beyond…and not your standard continental breakfast. Ria was warm , friendly and ensured our stay was comfortable. I will definitely be back for our next adventure to Barkerville.

Located right on Main Street in the centre of Historic Barkerville, the room and the parlour (to which I had complete access and could curl up with a cup of tea and a book) fit the time period perfectly. Even the gracious and helpful proprietress was in period costume.

Feel like you are living in the late 1800’s!

Traveling with our friends from Ireland we had an amazing time at the St. George Hotel. Ria, the proprietor was friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. Decor takes one back to the late 1800’s and rooms well appointed. Just a note that some rooms have shared bathrooms. Would stay again and recommend highly.

The hotel is on the Main Street in the Barkerville site. You truly feel like you are living in a hotel from the late 1800’s. There is a balcony overlooking the Main Street. The continental breakfast was far beyond our expectations and included cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, baked goods and pancakes. The staff are very professional and friendly. This is a replica of a small late 1800s hotel. Our room was small and not all rooms have bathrooms attached (ours did). The experience of reliving that time was so much fun and yet you still have wifi. They offer a lovely breakfast and the place was very clean. Our lovely hostess Elizabeth answered all our questions and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Not really for people with mobility issues because of the stairs and the trek in from the parking lot with your luggage. Pack light.

The best way to explore Barkerville. ‘Ms Benedixen’ is super welcoming, serves the best continental breakfast and is incredibly accommodating should you need anything during your stay that she can help with. Coffee/tea and biscuits are available all day and if you want a break from exploring the town you can sit in the private lobby away from other park guests. And you can even watch some of the shows from the hotel balcony. Given the age of the property we were surprised at how comfortable our stay was. We didn’t want to leave and hope to return one day despite the distance from Scotland!
