We stayed at the Cairn late August so it was a high demand period. Room rate was outrageous for this hotel. The breakfast was not good, staff was okay. This hotel needs a lot of TLC. There are a few coffee shops around the corner. We were able to walk to most of our destinations.

The hotel is situated in a quiet spot, yet Princes Street in only a few minutes walk away; secure parking is very nearby. The staff were most helpful, the room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good with a fair choice of food. The staff attending to the breakfast were very efficient and helpful. The room was clean and attended to daily. We would recommend this Hotel if you are looking for a comfortable and well placed accommodation.

You will have to haul your luggage upstairs- they will not. Floors in my room were dirty and had debris on them. I paid $775.00 US for 2 nights-no breakfast included in that price. One would expect far better. Not a welcoming team. Poor quality toiletries. It was disappointing. Location is good.

Staff were friendly. I had a room across the street which was a good size and had a small kitchen area, more than what I needed for an overnight stay. Good location, quiet but handy for the city centre. Nice breakfast in the morning which was included in the price. Not particularly cheap at more than £200, but was the most reasonably priced option available for the night I was staying. Roadside parking only so far as I could tell, but I used a nearby Q Park. Would stay here again.

Lodging prices in Edinburgh are very expensive. This property has comparable lower prices, is well maintained, clean and a 15min walk from some main sites. Breakfast includes ham, bacon, baked beans, eggs (they seem to be dehydrated scrambled eggs), etc. Our room was facing the back and was quiet, spacious and comfortable.
