This lovely little area of Castelvetro was a pleasure to stay in! The Locanda rooms were spacious and had nice amenities for coffee and tea. The living area was a nice addition to our space with lively decor. The toilet area is small but well appointed. If you want a romantic dinner reserve a table in the wine cellar. The hosts were fantastic! We should have stayed longer. One note: This is a castle village, the street is narrow but drivable. If you arrive by car, there is a large grove of trees where you can park. Then walk up the cobblestone road and the guesthouse on the corner of the 2nd left.

6/10 Good

Warning: The main photograph displayed on the Hotels.com website is not of Locanda del Feudo or even of Castelvetro di Modena but of a castle, closed to the public, at Levizzano, about four miles away. Our meal in the restaurant, was a large plate of cold meats shared between two, then chicken stuffed with mushrooms in floury sauce, and fish and seafood frito, which despite the menu including gurnard and red mullet had no detectable sign of either. There is no outside dining, and for an establishment proclaiming its Michelin past, this was very disappointing.

Went out of the way to ensure we had a pleasant stay. We were traveling by local bus; the bus service is poor on Sunday; so the owner offered us a ride into Modena (he had other chores there). Could not be more pleasant.

Beautiful top floor suite with a ‘peak’ view of the surrounding hillside. Really good restaurant in this hotel as well, so book it! Andrea, the sommelier, the check in guy and the host, is warm and professional. This is a small town with few dining options but his restaurant is excellent as well as the one down the street. Close proximity to Bologna and Modena city proper makes this a great romantic getaway.

Consigliato
