A short but lovely stay

We stayed only for 1 night but really great location to walk around Funchal. Rooms are large for Europe and quite comfortable. Minifridge and welcome chocolates quite nice. The only thing I would note is that there are very few chairs in the rooftop bar/pool area so almost impossible to find a spot. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. Would stay here again for sure.

The hotel was ok. The staff were friendly and informative. However, the lighting in both the room and about the hotel was dreadful. I had to choose a breakfast table beneath a spotlight to see my breakfast- not good at all. Why was everywhere so dim?

Loved our stay in Barcelo. Rooms spacious and bed very comfortable, bathroom clean and good size. Perfect location for everything, the street is amazing. Breakfast excellent, all you could wish for, and very comfortable reception area. A luxurious hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely choose to come to Hotel Barcelo again, our stay was magical! More drawers for clothes would be useful, also our shower caused water to flow on to the bathroom floor unless we put towels on the entry floor.

Beautiful new property in the best location in old town part of Funchal. They had entertainment each night on the patio, which was beautiful and the dining options were also very great. The rooftop pool is small and not deep, but it was beautiful view and the water was clean and nice. The staff And property are both very upscale

Must be the best hotel in Old Town Funchal! Greatest location, nice modern interior, rooftop has the best views, awesome pool, and great bar. The included breakfast was delicious and we looked forward to it every morning. Do have to park in a garage a few minutes walk away but I think that is every hotel in this area. And the walk is through lovely Old Town. Perfect hotel!!

Absolutely loved everything about this property (except the parking situation.) I loved the way it smelled when we walked in, the front desk staff was polite and friendly, the room was clean, the bed was nicely sized, the sheets were amazing, the air condition worked great, the bathroom was fancy, the pool had an amazing view, and there was so much to do within walking distance.
