The location is great but the hotel is older and the restaurant wasn't very good. The mattresses in the twin room were very thin and not comfortable. It didn't make our stay in Portmarnock suffer because we were near a lot of things to see and do. Also very close to the airport so that was helpful as well.

The location is excellent. Right on the beach walk. That being said room needed work. Carpets were stained and the "A/C" was a joke. Didn't go below 77 degrees/ 25 Celsius. Was also nice bar and restaurant attached. Nice singer on Saturday night.

The hotel location was perfect as we were heading out in Malahide. There is a great bus service running just outside the hotel. The hotel bar and restaurant have. Good food and lovely atmosphere. The hotel is a bit dated but the cleanliness is great and staff are lovely and really helpful. Definitely coming back

.We had a lovely 3 night stay in the Sands hotel. Spotlessly clean, warm friendly service, comfy beds. Breathtaking views of Lambay, Ireland's Eye and Howth Head. The Velvet Strand on your doorstep. Bus to Malahide leaves outside the door of the hotel. We will be back.

I stayed here for 1 night to go to a concert. The staff were very helpful. But the room was not clean there was wine stains on the carpet and the bed side tables looked like they hadn't been wiped in a long time.. also no WiFi did not work in our room. And the shower unit was coming away from the wall.

Loved this hotel, it was quite far from the city center of Dublin but only about an hour public transportation. The coast around it was beautiful and the little town around it is so cute and fun to explore, there are two castles nearby to explore. There is also a sauna company on the property you can use for less than 20 euros. The staff were friendly and gave good recommendations. The pub in the hotel was also great.
